Orbit Infant Travel System stroller has a removable cargo basket
The Orbit Baby concept was born in 2002 as a way to bring intelligent, modern design to family travel. Founders Joseph Hei and Bryan White both discovered that the baby travel gear available lacked the combined needs of functionality, flexibility, and style. As a new father (Bryan) and a new uncle (Joseph), they experienced first-hand how lacking car seats and strollers are. Car seats in general were hard to use safely, and infant gear seemed to become obsolete with little thought for upgradeability.
While most people have made similar complaints, Joseph and Bryan leveraged their unique backgrounds to develop solutions. Both had studied design at Stanford University, and both had worked at acclaimed design firm IDEO, so they came up with the concept of an easy to use, advanced, and stylish baby transport solution.
Working with industrial designer and IDEO alum Chris Loew, the team rapidly started prototyping and testing ideas with parents and pregnant couples. Based on the strong feedback they received in these early fields tests, they founded the company that would become Orbit Baby Inc.
For more than three years the team researched the market in great detail by talking to parents and by getting to know nearly every relevant product in the world. With the assistance of Vivian Chiang (Joseph Hei's wife), and Farrah White (Bryan White's wife) the group pored through reviews, conducted focus groups, ordered products from overseas, and compiled 'bug lists' of those aspects that bothered parents most. They also tapped the knowledge of some of the leading experts in the field of child seat safety. During this time, the team patented over 7 key technologies.

The Orbit Baby Infant System consists of three parts: the infant car seat, car base, and stroller designed to be smart, simple, and secure. The Orbit car base incorporated StrongArm technology that enables the car seat to be installed correctly and safely in under 60 seconds. Contrast that with other bases and car seats that are so time-consuming and difficult to use parents are encouraged to visit their local fire station in order to ensure their child's safety.
The Orbit infant car seat docks onto the base with the SmartHub. The circular SmartHub interface allows the infant car seat to easily snap onto the base, from any angle or direction, without having to line up grooves, belts, or notches. The infant car seat can then be rotated and locked into the correct rear-facing travel position. The flexibility of combining docking and rotation allows parents to place their baby in the car without having to contort their bodies or strain their backs. They can achieve this easy usage whether they want to place their baby into the recommended center rear seat, a minivan third row seat, or the back seat of a two-door sports car.
The Orbit stroller is also fitted with the same circular SmartHub dock. This allows parents to easily and quickly pop the infant car seat out of the base and into the stroller. SmartHub rotation means that the seat can be rotated a full 360 degrees allowing the child to be rear or forward facing or even sideways facing (useful for trips to restaurants). The stroller also folds compactly to easily fit into a car trunk, leaving room for all the other things that parents carry. Its one-handed folding feature means that parents can still hold their baby while packing up their gear without needing a third hand.
The three pieces of the Orbit Infant System, work together seamlessly. The System is completely modular, designed to work with future Orbit upgrades such as the Toddler Car Seat and the Stroller Seat, an add-on feature for older babies that creates a stand-alone stroller without the car seat.

The stroller is super simple to use, with one-handed folding and compact car trunk dimensions. Its aerospace grade aluminum frame ensures both strength and lightweight.
